On this day in 1267, Clement IV issued his letter In ordine vestro from Viterbo, approving the Trinitarian Rule of Life revised by the Apostolic Commission of Paris according to the mandate of Urban IV.  This papal Bull is addressed to the Major Minister and all the Brothers of the Order of the Holy Trinity and of Captives.  It gives the complete text of the revised Trinitarian Rule as well as the full texts of the 1262 mandate of Urban IV and the 1263 letter of presentation of the Apostolic Commission for the revised Rule.

On this day in 1599, Fr. Elías de San Martín – Prior General of the Discalced Carmelites – received from the Nuncio in Spain the appointment as Visitator of the Trinitarian Discalced Reform.  It was on this occasion that John Baptist Rico changed his name again and took the title “of the Conception”.

On this day in 1262, Urban IV issued his letter Cum sicut from Orvieto, commissioning the Bishop of Paris [Reginald], the Abbot of St-Victor [Robert] and the Abbot of St-Genevieve [Thibaud] to revise the Trinitarian Rule of Life.  This revision was requested by the Minister and the Brothers of the Order of the Holy Trinity and of Captives.

Hortensio Felix Parvacino y Arteaga died in the Trinitarian house of Madrid on this day in 1633.  He was 53 years old.  After his death, another portrait of him done by El Greco was found in his room.

Solemnity of St. John de Matha (+1213), priest, founder of the Order of the Holy Trinity.

On this day in 1198, Innocent III issued his letter Operante divine dispositionis from the Lateran, approving the Trinitarian Rule of Life.  This papal Bull is addressed to John, minister, and the Brothers of the Holy Trinity and gives the complete text of the Trinitarian Rule.

According to a tradition traced to the first half of the 17th century, John de Matha, founder of the Trinitarian Order, is said to have died on this day in 1213.

On this day in 1213, as recorded in the epitaph on his tomb, Brother John, founder of the  Order of the Holy Trinity, was buried in the Trinitarian Church of St. Thomas-in-Formis (Rome).
